Welcome to the Patterson Avenue Baptist website. We aim to make this site a fun, informative, and interactive place where people can become more aware of God’s amazing love and wonderful grace.
As enjoyable as cyberspace can be, however, it can never be a substitute for the joy of meeting and greeting in a more personal fashion. That is why I am writing this personal note of invitation. My name is Bill Nieporte, and beginning in July of 2007 I became the pastor of Patterson Avenue Baptist Church. That's me below!

PABC is a very young church with a very long and rich history. In1989, two historic Richmond churches (Calvary Baptist and Park View Baptist) united to become a new congregation. The new church is located at 4301 Patterson Avenue, becoming the Patterson Avenue Baptist Church. We are proud of the heritage we share as descendants of these two great congregations, but we are even more excited about our future. Our great desire is to find new and creative ways of communicating God's amazing grace with our community and world. On October 4, 2009, we celebrated 20 years of ministry as Patterson Avenue Baptist Church. Our focus was to touch and honor our past while reaching for the future we believe God has planned for us. Our theme was "A Brand New Day On the Horizon." At PABC we believe that God is always about new beginnings, in our lives, the church, our community, and the world.
Some of the exciting things that have been happening over the past year include a renew passion for connecting to and caring for our community. This can be seen in the creating of an active Youth and Children's Ministry, our involvement in local work that cares for the needy, homeless, and home-bound, plus our focus on providing relevant small groups experiences which are helping us clarify our missional purposea as we communicate the message of God's "Amazing Grace."
I hope you will take some time and use this site as a way of getting to know a little bit about our church before making a visit. Look at the upcoming events on our church calendar. Visit our ministry pages and see what we are doing. Stop by our sermon archive page and listen to a few of our morning sermons. As you surf this site, you will be able to catch a ‘glimpse’ of what we are all about as a church.
The folks at PABC are a warm, loving, and gracious people with a strong desire to make a positive impact on the people who reside in our neighborhood and beyond. You should come and join us in worship soon.
We are busily engaged in the process of learning about our community so we can find new and creative ways to share God’s love among those with whom we come in contact. How will you know if this is the right church for you? There is only one way. You will need to make the choice to come and meet us in person. I hope you will make that decision soon.
